Damage to the vehicle does not reflect the degree of damage to the occupants. In an accident, the head and neck of the injured person is accelerated 3 to 5 times faster than the acceleration of the car. This sudden change in speed (about 1/10 of second) produces damage to muscles, nerves, and ligaments. The soft tissue injuries incurred during an auto accident cannot be seen externally and can heal with scar tissue which can ache years later.
The damage to the spine can lead to recurring headaches, neck pain, jaw pain, shoulder pain, arm pain, hand pain, numbness and tingling, as well as memory loss, irritability, insomnia, depression, innitus (ringing in the ears), and concentration problems; stiffness, chronic muscle tension and spasms, lower back pain, spinal disc degeneration, inflamed arthritis, sore and tight inflexible muscles, a greater chance of repeat injury and poor posture.
Delays in the onset of pain are also common. Even if you are not in pain following a whiplash incident, it is important to receive prompt attention to your injury, as the structural balance of your neck and spine is important to your health.
Remember, nothing is more important than your health, especially when you start to lose it. Several studies show that a large percentage of whiplash victims will still have pain years after their accidents. Pain pills won’t heal inflamed tendons, muscle relaxers won’t heal torn muscles, and cervical collars won’t restore graceful spinal curves. Chiropractic care, coupled with a specific exercise program is the best treatment for patients injured in a motor vehicle accident.
If you are injured at work you are not alone. Millions of people sustain work related injuries each year. The suffering can be long term, which is why early treatment of work injuries should be sought.
Chiropractic care has become the leading form of medical care for work-related injuries involving the muscular/skeletal system. Some 13 separate studies in various states have repeatedly found that chiropractic care gets people back to work much sooner and at far lower cost than medical care for the same type of on-the-job back and repetitive stress injuries (RSI – carpal tunnel, Dequervain’s syndrome, thoracic outlet, tennis elbow, trigger finger). For the patient, that means less time in pain and more time to enjoy life.
California State Workman’s Compensation allows injured workers to directly access both chiropractors and medical doctors following an injury at work. Our staff will work with you to properly open your claim, and get the care you need, with no out-of-pocket expense to you.
Whether you are a “weekend warrior” athlete or a professional, injuries happen. There are two basic types of sports injuries: the first is the result of a trauma inflicted by a collision, a slip or a fall. The second type is caused by the over-use of a muscle group or joint whereby the repetitive movement of the same area causes an inflammation or injury such as carpal tunnel, stress fractures, muscle strains and tendinitis. Believe it or not simple household chores can mimic a sports injury.
We use numerous modalities (adjustments, cold laser, rehabilitation therapy, therapeutic massage therapy) to target problem areas and strengthen previously injured or weakened muscles and joints. You will learn better strategies for exercise and stretching so that you can continue on the straight and narrow path to better enjoyment of your chosen sport (We know household chores are not always included in this but are a necessity).
